Seven kilometers to the North is the Isla Juan Venado Nature Reserve. Juan Venado is 22km long and forms one of the important protected area in Nicaragua as part of the country's national park system. This area is well-known as a vital coastal wetland region, and includes known turtle nesting grounds, a bird nesting region and a nature rich region of the Nicaragua.  We are working to promote tourism and protect this area as part of a biological corridor which includes Isla Real (Los Suenos & Tamarindo Beach), Las Penitas and Poneloya.

The Island of Juan Venado is situated 25 minutes from the Colonial city of Leon, and is located to the south of the beaches of Las Penitas and Poneloya. As such, it is easy to reach and is popular with tourists. This marvelous natural area of Isla Juan Venado Nature Reserve is well worth a visit.

We are currently working with the Alcaldia ( Municipality of Leon ) to create a biological corridor for tourism and environmental work.  The corridor is made up of Los Suenos, Tamarindo Beach (11km of Isla Real), Salinas Grandes (5km fishing village), Juan Venado Island (22km of nature reserve) and the Town of Las Penitas (northern entrance to Juan Venado). This project is supported by the ECC (European Community), Marena (Nicaraguan Environmental Agency), Juan Venado Nature Parque, Nica Projects, and the Alcaldia of Leon.

Los Suenos Beach Resort offers wide variety of acquatic activities, including river and ocean swimming, surfing, SCUBA Diving, water skiing, canoeing and kayaking, and river and deep water fishing -- all within 5 minutes of the resort.

One of the great aspects of Los Suenos, Nicaragua is the amount of activities in close proximity.   Some of the options include:

• Our inhouse chartering service for fishing (inshore, deep water, river tamarindo or estuary) & touring.
• 35 minutes to the colonial city of Leon.
• 1 hour north to the beaches of Poneleya & Las Penitas.
• 30 minutes away is one of Nicaragua's largest wetland reserves called, Juan Venado Nature Reserve.

The town centre will be located in the center of Los Suenos Island Resort. The town center will have full service restaurants to tempt your taste buds. The centre will be decorated with beautiful native tilework, claytile roofs, and concrete walkways. The paved walkway/bike path will continue from the ocean boardwalk and connect with the town centre. The bike path will circle the town centre before heading out to the estuary pathway & the laguna.

There are countless retail shops located in the towncenter. You can choose from a wine & liquor store, fresh deli, grocery store, arts & crafts, home decor and pharmacy. Of you can sit back and have a cup of Nicaraguan coffee at the Internet cafe while you surf the net.

Just North of the town centre will be located the yoga centre, park land and restaurant over looking the estuary. The equestrian center will be located half on the hills and have on the flats by the laguna.  We currently have 4 horses in the ranch and will be expanding as the project matures.

We are finalizing the details of each area and we are working on the civil engineering, electrical, water, sewage.

For your convenience and state of mind, Los Suenos, Nicaragua will have a fully operational medical facility on-site.   The neighbouring building to the hotel will include the medical center.   We are currently negotiating the installation of a world renowned pain therapy clinic.  The design would be to invite international guests to the facility for pain resolution therapy.  We hope to have an announcement shortly on this initiative.

There will also be a medical center which will have certified staff to assist with your care in the town centre. The fully built development version will feature a reception/check-in area, exam room, laboratory and equipment such as wheelchairs, crutches, etc. 

The closest existing hospital at this time is in Leon, less than a 30 minute drive away.  Additionally, a new Leon hospital is to set to start construction in 2008. This 55,000 square foot facility is on the northern edge of Leon and has been financed by an American church group, Bethesda. This new hospital is both private and public, and will be staffed by US trained physicians. The construction budget is $18 million dollars.  The construction permits have been issued for this hospital project and we anticipate this hospital will be ready by 2010.
